Passive tests offer quick screening and do not necessitate a mouthpiece. The individual either speaks or exhales into a sampling cup located at the top of the breathalyser, ensuring no physical contact is made. These tests reveal the presence or absence of alcohol and are less invasive. Should this screening test indicate alcohol, an active test is usually performed.

An active test requires a mouthpiece to be affixed to the device, allowing for a precise measurement of Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC).

Devices like the SHIELD breathalysers can perform both types of tests and retain the data within the unit’s memory.

The above prices cover pick-up and return courier services, recalibration, airway servicing, and the Certification of Accuracy for non-rural areas only.
